I’m Blister. I am around 6 years old and I came to the refuge five months ago. I was found by the police wandering in the countryside close to a local town. I was in quite poor health and had not been eating very much for a while. Previously, I had been chained up on a finca for quite a few years. I was given food and water but did not have much of a life. Then I escaped. I could not tell my people at K9 this, of course, but they worked it out for themselves because of the state of my skin and the marks on my ears, knees and elbows.
I am much better in myself now but have also been diagnosed as heartworm positive. This is a common disease on my island – specially amongst dogs like me who have lived outdoors and whose owners do not give us medicine to prevent it. It is a serious condition but I am being treated for it and am quite well now and very happy in myself. I’d love to find a cosy home and family of my ownI, of course. I am a very big dog, though and – while everyone I meet says I am very handsome – I believe myself that the way I look means some people can be a little frightened of me. The truth is I am very docile and friendly but first impressions count I guess. Whatever, it’s not something I dwell on as I make the best of things – I always have. I would love, though, if you would be my sponsor buddy.
